Dear Emerson,
In three days you will be starting Kindergarten and I can't believe it. Where has the time gone? Where is my little baby who's first word was calculator. I am so excited for you to embark on this journey. I know that you will succeed in school and have a wonderful time. You ask me everyday if it is your first day of school. You are so excited to go to your new school and do what you love, LEARN. I have learned so much from you and I am so excited for you for Wednesday. May school bring you new learning, new friends, happiness, and a love for new things. I love you Emmy and I am sad for me....you are turning into a little lady and I don't know where the time went. PCRF Lemonade Stand

We are walking in the "Reaching for the Cure" race on Sunday, May 3rd. The girls and I do it every year. This year we decided to try to raise money for the cause and have a lemonade stand. The Burns family also helped out. We raised $ 48.00 and the girls, and Wyatt, has so much fun handing out the lemonade and taking the money. I think that the kids learned a valuable lesson in giving to others in need. This is a great cause that is dear to my heart and I love showing my girls how to help others!

While I was putting the girls to sleep tonight, Reese said a word that I like to call "potty mouth". I reminded her that we don't say those words and if she said it again, she would get soap in her mouth. She proceeded to tell me to "put it in my mouth so I can taste it"
WHAT?!
I laughed and told her that if she said it again she would get some. Emmy told her it didn't taste good!

My girls love to play with their dolls. I love to hear them talk to them and interact with them. They rock them, feed them, discipline them, and Reese walks hers on a leash! I walked in the kitchen and she put her dogs collar around her dolls neck and was taking her for a walk!!!! Too funny.......

Time Flies

I find myself wondering where the time goes. I spent 2 hours on Wednesday night at Eader Elementary school, getting all the information I need to send Emmy to Kindergarten in September. It seems like yesterday that she was so little and chubby, now she is so grown up. Being a teacher, you know what is expected of a child entering Kindergarten. It seems so different to me because it is my own child. I will be trusting someone else to teach my child. I am excited and very hopeful of the time I have with her until she goes. We have to learn how to tie her shoes and I have to feel old!

I always thought that being a teacher, you job was pretty safe. Well it is NOT that simple. California STILL does not have a budget. That means that there is no money going to districts. Not good news on any end. Some districts have issued IOU's to people, like they are going to do for our taxes. This is a scary, not fun, anxiety filled time in my life. With that said, I am blessed to have a HAPPY and HEALTHY Family that I love more than anything. At the end of the day, yes I need my job to pay our mortgage, but my beautiful family helps me forget.

Mike has been gone ENTIRELY to long! My mom had the girls today and they said that they want their OLD DAD BACK. I asked them what they meant by that and they told me that they have had their dad for a long time so they want a new one! I thought maybe they had not seen him for almost a month and a half and the missed him. They do miss him but I guess they want a new one!

I love listening to my girls have conversations. We had a sleep over last night with Grace. They were all playing in the room and I heard Emmy tell Grace, "When my dad is gone, he told me I am the boss, okay Grace"!? Classic line from her because she thinks she IS the boss!

We were eating dinner tonight and Reese was dringkig from a Trader Joe's kid water bottle and Emmy asked me "Why does Reese put body wash in her water bottles?" It took me a while to figure out what she meant. Reese BACK WASHES when she drinks and Emmy thought we said BODY WASH! These are the moments I cherish, even if my husband won't be home for 3 more weeks :(!!!

Trick or Treat, Pounding Feet

We had a fabulous Halloween. Emmy was a vintage Flapper, the costume was made by Nana Joyce 35+ years ago and worn my Emmy's Nanny! Reese was a Love Bug, but not much of a love bug because she did not take a nap! We went to Mimi and Papa's for some treats and then to Memaw's and Grandfather's for dinner and ALOT more treats! Fun was had by all. Reese didn't like the scary decorations, music, or the masks that most people had on. She loved the trick or treat part and even added a little thanl you. We hope you all had a great Halloweeen.

My dad is an amazing father and grandfather. He was in Vegas with my mom and he decided to buy the grand kids their own I Pod's to listen to their favorite music! Emmy was so excited because she was going to ask Santa for one, but she didn't want to wait that long. Well, Emmy got pink and Reese got green. They love them and abuse them just as much! Thank you Grandfather and Memaw, they girls love them.

After a long week at work, the girls were so excited that I was not going to work in the morning. They wanted to celebrate. I told them that we could make pancakes in the morning. They want princess shaped ones, but I convinced them that I could make snowman ones much better. They decided that would be fun. Emmy and Reese love to fight over baby dolls. They have about 20, but they always want the one the other on has. Tonight was no different and Emmy had to have a time out because she pushed Reese. After she had her time out, she apologized to Reese. I reminded Emmy that Reese was the only sister that she was going to have and she responded with.........."I don't want to have her"! She then burst into tears and said that she would rather have a brother. It made me sad but laugh at the same time. My sister is my best friend, but I am sure that there were times that I didn't want to have her either!

Full Moon

We were driving home last night and the moon was very beautiful and full. The girls were in the back seat trying to locate the moon in the sky. When Emmy finally saw the moon, she said "did he eat a lot of food. Is that why he is full?"

Emmy:How does he eat when he doesn't have a mouth?

Me: He eats the clouds in the sky honey.

Emmy: Well mom, it is night time and there are only clouds in the morning. He doesn't eat clouds at night so what does he eat?

New Hair Do for Reese

Reese got a hair cut! She looks adorable....at least I think so. Her hair was getting so long and getting stuck in her arm pits. It was quite funny, it looked like she had hairy arm pits! Mike's mom cut her hair in our garage. It is always fun trying to get Reese to sit still, especially when there are scissors involved!

Emmy started her second year of preschool this week. She will be going three days a week and her teacher is Mrs. Buxton. She loves school and was so excited that she finally got to go back to school.
It is hard to believe that she is four and will be going to kindergarten next school year. Where does the time go? I feel like it was yesterday that she was born.......wow, it goes by fast. I hope that she learns so much and has an amazing time with her new teacher!

Emmy just started playing soccer. Her team name is the Blueberries. There are five little girls on her team and they have so much fun "playing" soccer. I think it is more like a heard of kids following the ball , where ever it may go! They had so much fun. I had such a blast watching them play. Emmy just needs to remember that in soccer you don't use your hands!

Today was my last day home with the girls. I start back to FULL TIME teaching in the morning. I am sad but blessed to have been able to work part time for two years. Mike's company is cutting jobs due to the economy: not many people are flying right now and jet fuel is outrageous! We decided that I HAD to go back so we could survive. I love my job as a teacher but adore/love my role as a mom. We had a great summer and many wonderful memories. I will miss spending time with them during the week. Our weekends will need some quality time to love each other!

We had a busy, fun filled day with family and friends. We went to Papa's house to swim and have some cake. It was Papa's birthday. Then we went to my sister's for some tacos and A LOT of fireworks! The show was a bit long but the girls loved it. It is nice to reflect and think about all the freedoms that we have. We have a lot to be thankful for!

Round Up 2008

We have been a part of PCRF for 15 years. Each year they do a "Friend Raiser" for cancer patients and their families. We go each year to help out. This year my friend Allison had the idea to run a booth. She planned it and arranged for people to work at it and we all has such a good time. It is so amazing to see all the oncology patients with their families having fun. Everything is free and fun. My girls came with my mom and then we went and had some fun. Enjoy the pictures!

We had a great Christmas this year. Santa and our families were so kind to the girls. Emmy loved putting out the milk, cookies, and carrots for Santa and his reindeer. WOW! Emmy was coloring the other day and I asked her if she could write her name. She said yes. To my amazement, she wrote her name! The y looks like a 'T', but I was amazed. Pre-school is doing wonders for her and we are so proud of her. Check out how good she did!

The Perfect Tree

We went on the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree yesterday. We went to the place we have been going for years to get our pumpkins, fruit, veggies, and Christmas trees. The girls like the white ones, real snow of course! We all agreed on one that is the biggest one we have ever had. I feel like a grown up! It smells so wonderful. I just love Christmas.
Reese did not like decorating the tree. She did not quite understand that the ornaments stay ON the tree, they are not toys. She screamed the entire time we were decorating it because she wanted to play with them! She takes the round ornaments off and throws them and screams "BALL". Oh well!

Marshmallow Pizza

This was too cute, so I have to share. I only grocery shop at Trader Joe's and the fruit stand. My kids go with me and so they are used to see things at those places. I had to venture out to Ralphs for some things for Thanksgiving that they did not have at Trader Joe's. The first exciting difference was the carts....they have ones with cars. We run to get the last car cart and load the girls in. I am pushing this cart, which is not easy, and trying to find the isle with the frosting. I finally find it and Emmy spots the marshmallows. "Wow mommy, they have marshmallows here!" I explained to her that they are used for baking around the holiday time. She then tells me that they have "Marshmallow pizza at this store". I looked up and looked at the marshmallows were in a display with the sweet potato pie recipe. It was in a round dish and the marshmallows were melted like cheese. I laughed and a lady shopping also laughed. It did look like a pizza with marshmallows on it! They loved Ralphs. There were balloons, toys, and so many colorful food items to point and look at. I never realized how much stuff they have at the "regular" market. I learned that I love Trader Joe's more and more because I know where everything is and I save a FORTUNE by going there!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all that you have. Wow! Where do we start? We have two beautiful, healthy, happy, and smart girls, a beautiful house over our heads, wonderful family and friends, school, marriage, and we all have each other. Mike has to work this afternoon, so instead of Thanksgiving dinner with the girls, we had Thanksgiving breakfast. I just got the Jessica Seinfeld cookbook and made the "French Toast" with pumpkin puree. They all loved it. The cookbook has other great things that we are going to try as well. We all sat at the table and talked about Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for. Great pumpkin French Toast, love, and laughs this Thanksgiving morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Emmy brought home a card that she had made at school. Miss Lauren asked each child what they were thankful for. I was very surprised to see what Emmy had said. She said" I am thankful for my sister Reese". How sweet is that?! She doesn't seem to be thankful for her when she is tearing up her art projects, or when she wants her to go to sleep so I can read her a "big girl" book. I was very happy to see that she is thankful for her sister. Reese loves her to pieces and I will have that card forever!

Reese the Talker

Wow! Reese is talking up a storm. You know when this child is hungry because she says "more" in a high pitched scream while doing the sign for more with her hands! She loves to say "no, no, no" to everything. I found her the other day reading a book to her doll, so sweet. She is 17 months now and is growing up way to fast. I love how she cuddles with us, says I love you, night night, thank you, and yells 'MOMMA" when she is ready to get up in the morning. Parenting is amazing, but also exhausting. It makes it all worth while when they tell you they love you.

Smart Girl

We have known from the beginning that Emmy was a very smart girl. She loves to color and "do her homework" in a journal. We were in the car and she had her handy journal and pencil to keep her busy. I asked her if she could write the letter "E" and she said yes. I thought that she would scribble some and tell me that she printed an E. She proudly held up the paper and there was the capital "E"! I was so excited, proud, and amazed. It was better than some of my first grade students! She always amazes me and I can't believe how fast she is becoming a big girl. I blink my eyes and she is doing new things! Wow, children are an amazing blessing!!!!!

My patience is running thin, and I mean thin. My girls are so demanding right now and I don't have much patience left to keep up with them. Emmy needs this, this, and this, as Reese needs that, that, and more that! Reese must love to hear herself cry....that is all she does these days. I have found myself leaving the room, trying to calm down before I walk in to see what she needs. She is getting teeth, and it is no fun. Emmy is having poop issues and is scared to go on the toilet. She was potty trained and now.....this. The time change is not helping out the girls either!I guess this is what motherhood is about. Ups and downs and in between! God can only give you as much as you can handle, so they say.

Halloween was so much fun this year. Emmy was so excited to dress up as Alice and Wonderland....she asked me everyday for a month if she could wear her pretty dress. The day finally arrived and she was so excited. Last year she did not really get it......but this year it clicked! Trick or Treat= CANDY! Reese was an adorable ladybug.We has so much fun and got way too much candy. We went with Trey, Grace, Emmy, and Reese around my mom's neighborhood. Reese had fun as well but was terrified of the "Scream" character and anything that has a mask. She ate her way around the neighborhood, including an apple that a lady was handing out. I enjoyed watching Emmy excitedly run down the blocks and getting candy. It brought me such joy to see how much fun she was having. She had been looking forward to it forever! We also saw her dog cousins, Milton and Molly. They were dressed up as a bee and a ladybug!

Happy Birthday to my dad! My dad is an amazing man. He is a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He is a hard working man who has taught me a lot about life. He taught me how to never give up when you put your mind to something. I learned to love my work and and be a hard worker, even if nobody else notices. He looks like a big tough guy, but deep down, he is a big teddy bear. He would give anyone he knows the shirt off his back. When someone needs help, they call on him. I hope that your birthday is more than you expect, because you deserve it. My girls adore you and love to get cookies from you when they come over. I hope your 56 holes of golf made you feel as young as you look! We love you dad/grandfather! You have taught me more than you will ever know!

ENC Fun

Sorry I have not kept up to date, but we have been very busy around here. A few weekends ago, the girls, my mom, and myself went to the ENC Fall Fair. It was so much fun. There were crafts, pumpkins, music, food, and fun for all. Emmy loved making the crafts and Reese loved walking through the nature center. She did not care for the scarecrows! I hope that you enjoy the pics!

Sunny Delight

Ok........my doctor told me that Sunny Delight is worse for kids than soda, the amount of sugar is way more than soda. I had never given my kids soda or Sunny Delight, so it was ok. Well.......leave it to a Meemaw to give Emmy some Sunny Delight. Much to my "un-delight", Emmy loved it and always asks for it when we are at my mom's house. We were getting into the car with my mom and she said to us, "When we get to Meema's, can I have some Sunny Sunny Day?" How cute is that!

Pumpkins

We went to a "pumpkin patch" in search of the perfect pumpkin for our front door. Emmy liked the huge ones and Reese liked the little ones. Reese also like playing with the rocks and straw, almost more than picking a pumpkin. Emmy found the one that she wanted to decorate with her "Mrs. Potato Head Princess Pumpkin" kit. We all had great fun!

16 Month Stats.

Reese had her 16 month check up today with Dr. Curtis. She weights 20 pounds 9 ounces (10th percentile) and she is 31 1/4 inches tall (70th percentile). She is small and long. She can say ball, mommy, daddy, dog, more, hi, bye-bye, baba, night night, juice,papa, no, yes, and many others. Reese is a strong willed, loud, crazy, and loves to eat. I can't believe that my baby is 16 months old! Where does the time go?!

My cousin Chelsea got married to her long time boyfriend, Jason, on Saturday up in Big Sur. I can't even begin to explain the beauty of this place.
Mike and I drove up on Friday, with no kids! I was wondering what we were going to talk about on a 7 hour drive with no kids to interrupt us! The view was breathtaking. Vineyards, to cows, to rolling hills, elephant seals, deer, whales, and the most amazing view of the coast. There are so many cute towns up the coast of California that I never even knew about. We had plenty to talk about and plan a trip back up the coast with the girls.
Ok.....back to the wedding. Chelsea is a fashion designer/jewelry maker, and has the most amazing flare and taste. The wedding was on a cliff, and I mean cliff. The pictures do not do this place justice. I have never been to a more beautiful wedding in my entire life. The view was amazing, the decor beautiful, and the bride and groom shared the most amazing handwritten vows. We all had such a great time and can't wait to go back up the coast with the girls.

Emmy had her first day of "Bunch For Lunch" at her school. She stays after school and eats lunch with her friends and plays. I picked her up and asked how it was. She said "I had fun and I ate my whole lunch box"! Wow Emmy, you ate your lunch box. Did it taste good? I love kids!

Third Lesson: They are so happy!

Emmy took swim lessons in the summer through the City of Huntington Beach. She did not like it at all, but her teacher was the best. After the first week, she decided that she liked it and did much better......she did not cry for the entire lesson. I asked him if he did private lessons so that Emmy could keep up on her skills. Mr. Ray, mind you he is in high school, has been teaching Emmy and Trey for a month and the progress is amazing. Trey calls him "Uncle Ray". Trey cried the entire first lesson, but at the end he was going under water! The pictures say it all....... the first lesson and then after 3 times with Mr. Ray. It is amazing to see the progress and how much they enjoy it.

Disneyland Fun

We went to Disneyland for fun and for Mike's birthday. The girls had so much fun. It was a great day to go because there were some clouds and a little wind. I always wonder when we go there if people work....so many people there on a Wednesday! They were probably wondering the same thing about us! The Halloween decorations were up and so cute. Emmy was able to see her favorite Disney character.....Ariel. Reese loved the teacups and didn't like Pirates because of the dark. Overall, it was a great day at the "Happiest place on Earth"! I can't believe how much everything costs......4.00 for a drink. They make so much money at that place.

Happy 32nd Birthday to our daddy and my husband. May the year ahead be filled with many fun new memories. We love you so much and had a great time at Disneyland with you. We even liked "Pirates"! Blanket

My girls each have a "security" object. Emmy has pink bear and Reese has a pink silky blanket.
She takes is everywhere and sleeps with it every night. Well................yesterday we were out to lunch with our friends Nicholas and Kindra and we lost the blanket. I had the girls loaded in the car and began looking for it because Reese was calling for it. I began to panic, it was no where to be found. I retraced our steps and called the store we went to. With no luck, we did no find the blanket. I immediately started to panic.......bed time, nap time, crying times, no pink blanket. What were we gong to do. I called stores and my mom looked at 3 stores, no pink silky blankets. They have other colors and styles, but that won't do. I began to look on line, and I found one similar to hers at the Right Start. I wish my girls like pacifiers, they would be so easy to replace! Here is the last picture taken with Reese and her blanket. I hope the new one fills the void, or the Walker family is going to be sad!

Soccer Fun

My nephew, Trey, had his first soccer game on Saturday. It was so funny to see a bunch of 4 year olds running after the ball. Some even picked up the ball with their hands and put it where they wanted it and continued to run. Too cute! Emmy and Reese had fun watching, although Emmy wished she could be on the field with the boys. Terence is the coach, and that was also funny to watch........ 6foot 7 inches trying to tell 4 year olds where to be and what to do! Reese also liked to walk all over the field! I even got a picture of it, finally!

Miss Lauren and Emmy

Today was Emmy's first day of school at Joyful Noises (love the name!) Emmy was very excited as we were driving in the car to school. I was the one who was sad, excited, nervous, and shed a few tears. I can't believe how fast my little girl is growing up. Her teachers name is Miss Lauren. She is very caring and nice. Emmy said goodbye and ran off to play with play-doh. I went off to a parent orientation to learn about the rules of the school. I know that I can't be late or it is $1.00 a minute if you are past 12:00! I am excited for her because she is having fun, learning, and making new friends. This new chapter of her life is exciting, even if it is a little sad for us!

I know that kids love to ask why, but I did not realize how many times a day Emmy would be asking me.
Emmy: Why is the trash, trash? Why do you have green eyes? Who makes food? How do they make food? Why do we have hair and why is it called hair? Why does it rain? Why do you have two rings on your finger and on your toes? Why do you have to work? Why do I have school? How come the moon is not out tonight?
Mommy: Well Emmy................................................. I sometimes just laugh and think how wonderful it is to be a child and wonder "why" about the simplest things! I try to answer her "whys" the best way that I can!

Reese the "Walker"

Wow!!!!!!! Reese is walking! She still crawls, but she is bound and determined to walk. She loves it because her sister is her biggest cheerleader and loves the attention. She walked across the entire living room and kitchen. I tried to get pictures and video, but she would rather crawl when I got them out. We are all so proud of her, as she is with herself. WE LOVE YOU REESE GIRL!~

I love kids.....they say the funniest things. Emmy is potty trained now and she had to go to the bathroom. We walked down the hall towards the bathroom and she told me that I needed to leave because she needed her "piratecy". I was explaining to her that when people are in the restroom, the need their privacy! I think piratecy is too cute, just thought I would share!

Pink Bear

Emmy has had "Pink Bear" since she was born. She does not leave home without it. She sleeps with it every night and it is getting very worn out. We went to Canada this summer and he came along. He even went on a hike to a beautiful waterfall. She was so proud that he came and she wanted to have her picture taken with him. I don't know what we will do when he falls apart!

Welcome Home Captain Daddy

We are so glad to have daddy back at home. He came home from Texas on Tuesday, just in time for me to go back to work! The girls and I made a sign for him and put it on the garage. He said he felt like he was on a high school football team. We has so much fun making the sign, even if Reese wanted to eat the paint. She got more paint on her than on the paper. Mike is almost finished with everything and will be an official "Captain Walker" flying in the left seat!
Life is better for me know because I am no longer a single mom! I have some sanity now. I will keep you posted on our crazy lives.

Wow......Another tooth!

Reese finally got her second tooth! Her top left tooth came through and she looks so cute. She needs some teeth, she will be 15 months on the 12th of September! I just wanted to share with everyone.

The Summer of '07

Our computer is now fixed! Thanks Mike. He came home from Texas for 24 hours and spent time with us and fixed the computer.
Mike has 5 more days in Texas and then he can finally come home, just in time for me to go back to work. This summer has been filled with so many fun things. The girls and I have been busy hanging out with family and friends. We have been trying to stay as busy as possible while Mike was away......mainly so I would not go crazy by myself for 6 weeks.
We have gone to Canada (Emmy and I), the beach, the fair, the park, the mall, to birthday parties, had sleepovers, baked, went on walks, played, laughed, cried, gone to playgroup, had play dates, but most of all, spent quality time together. I am so blessed to have had the summer to spend with my girls.
They are growing so fast. Emmy is going to start pre-school, or as she calls it "pretty school", in September. She is becoming an independent girl. She gets dressed by herself and loves to push the button to get water for her cup. She loves books, dress-up, and loves shoes! Whenever we go to someones house, she always ends up taking a pair home and promises to bring them back. I wonder where she gets her love of shoes from? I love listening to what she has to say and love listening to her sing her color songs at the top of her lungs!
Reese is still the one tooth wonder! Four others are trying to come in, but no luck yet. She is so different than Emmy was as a child. She is so small, wild, loud, spunky, and very messy. She has such a wild personality! She loves animals, to go under the water in the pool, loves to eat lots of food, gives the best kisses, loves to pull her sisters hair, and loves to give hugs. She is almost walking. She would rather crawl because she can get there so much faster. We have had a busy and fun filled summer. I am glad to be going back to work because I have the best of both worlds. I love teaching and I love staying home with my girls. I share a contract at work and it enables me to do what I love and raise my kids. I will post some pictures of our summer fun!

Crash

Our computer crashed last night! Mike is going to try to fix it when he comes back from Dallas in two weeks. I won't beable to add pictures but I can still keep you all updated.
Mike was home for 24 hours and it was a nice visit. The girls are very confused as to why he has to "live on the airplane in Texas"....Emmy says this everyday. The girls are keeping me busy and tired. I love listening to what they have to say. Reese almost has her second and third tooth.......it's about time because she is 14 months! She is almost walking and loves to eat. We had a slumber party at our good friends the O'Hare's. Kindra's husband, Nick , is an excellent cook and spoiled us with the best food. He even taught Emmy how to make Blueberry Crepes. I wish I could show you the pictures. We are keeping busy until daddy comes home and I go back to teaching. I am so lucky to have been able to have such a fun summer with my family. Erin posted a great song on her blog and it is very true. You may not have a lot, but be proud of the house you made. I am proud of the house the Mike and I have made for our girls!

Captain Daddy!

We are so proud of our daddy. He passed his oral exam today for American Eagle. He is one step closer to being a captain....his dream since he was five. He will no longer be in the right seat of the airplane. We love him and are so proud of all of his hard work. Only 3 more weeks until he comes home from Texas. We love you!

Reese the Monkey!

Reese is known as a monkey in our family. She talks like one and tends to climb things like one as well. I found her talking on the phone in the play kitchen. I came back a second later and she was climbing up the kitchen and playing. She loved it and does it all the time.

Emmy and Reese love the beach and they love to eat. Tata gave the girls matching bathing suits for their birthdays. They were having a great time at the beach so I thought I would capture a time when the sisters would like to wear the same suit!

Emmy loves to play dress up. She mostly likes to dress up like a princess. The other day she came out dressed up like her daddy and told me she wants to "drive planes like her daddy does". The picture says it all!

Being a mom is so exciting and exhausting at the same time! Emmy is three and Reese is one. I have enjoyed my summer off from teaching and have been spending some quality time with the girls. Mike is in Texas for 3 more weeks! He is learning how to fly his new airplane and loving it! I hope to get pictures on this soon!

I thought that I should get with the times and try this out! My friend Erin does it and I enjoy reading her posts. I don't know how to do it, but I will learn along the way!
